Position Summary
Lakeland Regional High School is seeking a positive, energetic, and dedicated Assistant Fall Cheer Coach to assist in leading the high school cheerleading program during the fall athletic season. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Head Cheer Coach to develop student-athletes' cheerleading skills while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, school spirit, leadership, and personal growth in a safe and supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Cheer Coach in planning and conducting practices, games, competitions, and other team activities.
- Instruct student-athletes in cheerleading fundamentals, including motions, stunting, jumps, tumbling, dance, and game-day performance techniques, as appropriate.
- Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, leadership, and respect among student-athletes.
- Assist with preparing routines for athletic events, competitions, pep rallies, and other school functions.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes by following appropriate safety standards and best practices.
- Supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, travel, and school-sponsored events.
- Assist with equipment, uniforms, and inventory management.
- Communicate effectively with the Head Coach, Athletic Director, students, parents, and school administration.
- Support compliance with NJSIAA, conference, district, and school policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Cheer Coach and Athletic Director.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a valid New Jersey Substitute Credential required.
- Previous coaching or cheerleading experience at the high school, collegiate, or youth level preferred.
- Knowledge of current cheerleading safety standards, techniques, and best practices.
- Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and positively mentor student-athletes.
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications are preferred or must be obtained as required by district policy.
- Must satisfy all New Jersey Department of Education employment requirements, including criminal history background clearance.
Compensation
- Stipend range: $3,260.58 $3,766.41 in accordance with the Lakeland Education Association (LEA) Negotiated Agreement.
