PURPOSE OF POSITIONThe Assistant Field Engineer aids the Engineering Department in all aspects of administrative support, data entry, and engineering workflow. The Assistant Field Engineer guides members on Cooperative policies and procedures related to engineering services. This position provides excellent communication between the department, the member, and other departments in the Cooperative. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESIs responsible for answering questions regarding service order status, the use of Service Orders to track work for members, and overall general organization of the department.Has a broad understanding of the Cooperative Industry, as well as power grid fundamentals, and takes course work to develop those understanding as they relate to work in the Engineering Department. Assists in the preparation of necessary documentation for new and existing members. Ensures that all required membership applications, contracts, and required fees are in place and in compliance with Cooperative policies.Assists with acquiring right-of-way easements and highway permits. Reviews property records and easements to ensure accuracy. Assists with filing easements.Updates and creates service orders, including retirements.Support eWork flow processes for the Engineering department to ensure timely completion.Knowledgeable of the Cooperative's policies on new installations and revamps including executing contracts for projects of all sizes. Assists GIS Analyst in as-building, or updating the GIS data set regarding its accuracy. Maintains an updated standards book, and publish for the Cooperative Team. Assisting with drafting assignments utilizing ACAD, electronic staking, and GIS, and takes necessary courses available to be proficient in these. May assist Field Engineers with design, staking, and coordination of line extensions and changes in the Cooperative distribution system.Will be given special projects and other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
