KPMG is currently seeking an Assistant General Counsel - Commercial Contracting to join our Office of General Counsel organization.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a legal advisor and trusted counselor across the firms core service lines: Audit, Tax and Advisory
• Structure, draft, review and negotiate complex client-facing commercial agreements, including Master Services Agreements, audit letters and bespoke engagement terms across Audit, Tax and Advisory practices while ensuring rigorous alignment with professional and regulatory rules and firm risk management policies
• Provide real-time counsel on regulatory requirements and standards impacting professional services firms (for example, SEC and PCAOB auditor independence regulations, AICPA guidelines), commercial terms and conditions and related laws
• Collaborate closely with professionals in Risk Management, Information Security, Practice Advisory and the Department of Professional Practice to resolve multi-disciplinary contract and regulatory issues

Qualifications:

• Minimum eight years of recent progressive legal experience negotiating complex commercial transactions within a premier national law firm, a sophisticated corporate in-house legal department, or a major professional services organization
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school and an active license/good standing with at least one U.S. state bar
• Prior experience advising on regulatory matters a plus
• Exceptional oral, written and presentation skills with the ability to convey nuanced legal concepts succinctly to firm leaders

For this current opening, our target hiring salary range is $265000 to $357000 based on the immediate requirements and scope of the role. The current full market salary range for this job level is disclosed below. This broader range represents potential future income growth available over the course of a career in this position. Potential income growth is determined based on relevant factors such as skills, performance, job responsibilities, experience, certain degrees and certifications, and market considerations.
