    Assistant General Manager 

    Aspen Suites Hotel Anchorage Downtown | Anchorage, Alaska

    Aspen Suites Hotel Anchorage Downtown is looking for a hands-on, dependable Assistant General Manager to help lead hotel operations and support the continued success of the property.

    The Assistant General Manager will work closely with the General Manager to oversee daily operations, lead and develop the hotel team, maintain property standards, and ensure guests receive a welcoming and consistent experience. We're looking for a leader who isn't afraid to jump in, solve problems, and work alongside the team when needed.

    What You'll Do

    • Assist the General Manager with all aspects of daily hotel operations
    • Provide direct leadership and support to Front Desk, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and other operational areas
    • Recruit, train, coach, schedule, and develop hotel associates
    • Create a positive work environment built around teamwork, accountability, and excellent guest service
    • Monitor hotel operations and guest feedback and take action to resolve concerns quickly and professionally
    • Conduct regular property and guest room inspections to ensure cleanliness, safety, appearance, and maintenance standards are consistently met
    • Assist with labor management, purchasing, inventory, expense control, and overall operational efficiency
    • Monitor staffing levels and adjust operations based on occupancy and business needs
    • Help maintain appropriate inventory levels for hotel supplies, linens, equipment, and operating materials
    • Work closely with Maintenance to identify and address property needs before they impact the guest experience
    • Support sales efforts and help identify opportunities to increase occupancy and revenue
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable local, state, and federal requirements
    • Serve as a manager on duty and respond appropriately to emergencies and unexpected operational issues
    • Step into operational areas when needed to support the team and ensure the hotel runs successfully
    • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the General Manager

    What We're Looking For

    • 3+ years of hotel operations or hospitality management experience preferred
    • Previous supervisory or management experience in Front Office, Housekeeping, or multi-department hotel operations
    • Strong leadership skills with a hands-on management style
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and guest service skills
    • Ability to coach employees, address performance concerns, and maintain accountability
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
    • Good organizational and time-management skills
    • Understanding of hotel labor, inventory, expense management, and operational controls
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and hotel management systems
    • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, but relevant hotel leadership experience may be substituted
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on hotel needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
