We are looking for an Assistant General Manager who leads from the floor, holds a standard without being told to, and understands that great hospitality is built one shift at a time.
The Role: The AGM owns the full front-of-house experience at Black Briar. You are the connective tissue between leadership vision and daily execution - present during service, accountable to standards, and invested in the development of every person on your team.
You report directly to the General Manager. This is a floor-first position. If you manage best from an office, this is not the role for you.
What You Own: Job Summary
Full FOH operations across all service periods - floor coverage, pacing, and guest experience
Pre-shift meetings, team communication, and shift accountability
Real-time labor management and floor adjustments during service
Reservations execution via OpenTable - pacing, waitlist, and table turn discipline
Menu knowledge across the full team - food, beverage, and wine
Scheduling support in 7shifts within established labor targets
Onboarding and training integration for new FOH hires
Performance coaching and documentation in partnership with the GM
Shift reporting, incident documentation, and administrative follow-through
What We're Looking For: Qualifications + Skills
5+ years in full-service FOH operations, with at least 2 years in a management role at a high-volume concept
Experience at or above Black Briar's price point
Working knowledge of wine and beverage service; formal certification a plus
Proficiency with Toast, OpenTable, and 7shifts preferred
Illinois Food Handler and BASSET certifications required
Strong communicator - with guests, with your team, and with leadership
Someone who holds a standard because they believe in it, not because they're being watched

Salary Range: $65k - $80k
