Assistant General Manager (AGM)
Job Summary
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is a key member of the restaurant leadership team responsible for supporting the General Manager in overseeing all aspects of daily operations. The AGM helps ensure exceptional guest experiences, strong financial performance, operational excellence, and team development while upholding Lynora’s culture and standards.
The AGM serves as a hands-on leader, helping manage both Front-of-House and Back-of-House operations, coaching team members and managers, resolving operational challenges, and ensuring the restaurant consistently operates at a high level. In the absence of the General Manager, the AGM assumes leadership responsibility for the restaurant.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
Support and oversee daily restaurant operations to ensure smooth and efficient execution.
Assist in managing both Front-of-House and Back-of-House teams to maintain service, quality, and cleanliness standards.
Ensure company policies, procedures, and operational standards are consistently followed.
Monitor service flow, guest satisfaction, staffing levels, and overall shift performance.
Assist with opening, closing, and managerial shift responsibilities.
Team Leadership & Development
Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and develop team members and supervisors.
Assist in creating a culture of accountability, teamwork, and hospitality.
Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to employees and management staff.
Address employee concerns professionally and partner with Human Resources when necessary.
Lead pre-shift meetings and management communication efforts.
Guest Experience
Ensure every guest receives exceptional hospitality and service.
Actively engage with guests and resolve concerns promptly and professionally.
Monitor guest feedback and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Lead by example in creating memorable guest experiences.
Financial & Administrative Management
Assist the General Manager in achieving sales, labor, food cost, beverage cost, and profitability goals.
Monitor daily financial performance and operational metrics.
Support inventory management, purchasing, receiving, and cost control initiatives.
Ensure proper cash handling, deposits, and adherence to financial controls.
Assist with scheduling, reporting, and administrative responsibilities.
Compliance & Food Safety
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, labor, and company regulations.
Maintain high standards of food quality, sanitation, and cleanliness throughout the restaurant.
Support managers in enforcing food safety procedures and operational standards.
Maintain an active Food Safety Manager Certification.
Leadership Responsibilities
Serve as a role model for Lynora’s culture, values, and standards.
Lead shifts with confidence, professionalism, and a sense of urgency.
Support the General Manager in driving accountability and operational consistency.
Assist in developing future leaders and strengthening the management team.
Assume responsibility for restaurant operations in the absence of the General Manager.
Qualifications
Minimum of 2–4 years of restaurant management experience.
Strong understanding of restaurant operations, guest service, labor management, and team development.
Proven leadership experience in a high-volume restaurant environment preferred.
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Food Safety Manager Certification required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
