Description

Kenton County Golf Courses, located in Independence, KY, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a full-time Assistant General Manager! We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. As part of Troon, you will contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.

Compensation:

$54,000.00 per year

General Purpose:

The Assistant General Manager reports directly to the General Manager. The Assistant General Manager will help direct and administer all aspects of the operation and will coordinate and administer the propertys policies and procedures as defined by the propertys ownership or Troon.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages the office area to ensure effective telephone and mail communications
  • Manages all aspects of the club in the absence of the General Manager
  • Assists in hiring, developing, and supervising all key management employees of the property
  • Processes customer reservations for guests of the golf course
  • Produces daily reports related to rounds, sales, and other metrics for management
  • Assists in coordinating individual, group, and tournament play as directed by the First Assistant Golf Professional or Head Golf Professional
  • Works closely with the Marshall and Starter to monitor all aspects of play, including starting, monitoring pace of play, safety on the course, and golf course markings
  • Provides customer service to arriving guests to help expedite the check-in process
  • Assists in the reconciliation of cash and accounts receivable charges to the daily register at the close of day
  • Assists in overseeing the care and maintenance of the propertys physical assets and facilities
  • Provides assistance in the management of the Pro Shop
  • Maintains positive and productive relationships between the golf facility and its board of directors, golfers, guests, employees, community, government, and industry
  • Assists with sourcing, hiring, developing, training, and motivating a professional, service-oriented staff at the discretion of the General Manager
  • Assists the General Manager in managing staff by conducting staff meetings
  • Ensures standards by implementing course policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor

Education and Experience:

  • One to three years of experience in the golf industry
  • Four-year college degree (preferably business related)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PGA Membership or PGA registered apprentice in good standing

  • Must have supervisory, coaching, and staff development experience

  • Must have experience in total golf facility management and a demonstrated ability to run a professional, efficient, high-quality, service-oriented operation

  • Must be proficient in Excel, Access, Word, and POS systems

  • Working knowledge of club accounting

  • Must have a strong business aptitude and passion for the golf business

  • Experience assisting with building player development programs

  • Experience acting as a club liaison to the community

  • Must have exceptional customer service skills

  • Must be highly motivated, goal-driven, and a self-starter

  • Must be extremely organized, efficient, and detail-oriented

  • Must possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Highly polished interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with people easily and quickly

  • Must have the skill to exercise good independent judgment in assessing situations and making decisions
