Kitchen Manager / Assistant General Manager – The Skinny Pancake
The Skinny Pancake, a Vermont-based creperie built around local food and community connection, is looking for a hands-on Kitchen Manager/Assistant General Manager to run our back-of-house and help lead the restaurant through a strong summer and beyond. With locations across Vermont, New York, and Massachusetts, we're growing — and we need a kitchen leader who can own food quality, safety, and team development while also stepping up as a General Manager's right hand.
Is This You?
You know a kitchen inside and out — the pace, the pressure, the standards — and you love building a team that can hit them consistently. You're ready to take ownership of BOH operations end to end: staffing, training, inventory, purchasing, and execution on the line. And you want that expertise to open the door to broader restaurant leadership.
What You'll Own as Kitchen Manager / AGM
This role is BOH-first: the kitchen is your primary responsibility, and you'll be evaluated on how well it runs. Beyond the kitchen, you'll also support front-of-house and step into GM responsibilities when needed, because we believe great hospitality is a team effort.
Core Kitchen Management duties:
- Own all aspects of kitchen operations — scheduling, inventory, purchasing, food quality, and safety
- Lead, train, and coach culinary staff on the line, setting the standard for execution
- Control BOH costs and food costs as a direct driver of restaurant profitability
- Recruit and develop a strong kitchen team, building bench strength for the long term
- Ensure ServSafe/food-safety standards are followed and maintained
Broader AGM responsibilities:
- Support the dining room — training and coaching FOH staff on hospitality standards
- Step into Manager-on-Duty responsibilities as needed
- Cover General Manager responsibilities during their absence
- Collaborate across departments to drive overall restaurant success
What We're Looking For:
- 3+ years in varied restaurant roles, including cooking and supervisory experience
- 2+ years of management experience, ideally with direct kitchen oversight
- Strong training instincts — able to teach kitchen operations to others from the ground up
- Full-time availability for 8–10-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- A hospitality mindset that extends beyond the kitchen doors
- ServSafe Food Manager Certification (or equivalent) preferred
- High-volume, fast-paced restaurant experience preferred
Benefits and Perks:
- Competitive base salary of $55,000–$62,000/year
- RevShare program for additional earnings
- 80 hours of PTO accrued annually
- Comprehensive, paid training
- Medical insurance (BCBS, two plan options, with company contribution)
- Dental and vision insurance options
- Health Savings Account (HSA) access
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
- CSA cost-share program
- Free shift meals and a team member dining discount
- 401(k) with up to 4% company match
Ready to run a kitchen that matters and grow into broader restaurant leadership? We want to hear from you.
