Assistant General Manager

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Assistant General Manager to support the leadership team and help guide daily operations while continuing to build on Cucina Alba's reputation for exceptional hospitality.

Position Summary

The Assistant General Manager is a key member of the leadership team responsible for supporting the General Manager in all aspects of restaurant operations. This role requires a hands-on leader who thrives on the floor, maintains high service standards, and helps cultivate a positive, high-performing team culture.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in upscale, high-volume restaurants and is passionate about hospitality, guest experience, and team development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the General Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations and ensuring smooth service execution
  • Lead by example on the floor to maintain hospitality standards and deliver an exceptional guest experience
  • Train, mentor, and develop front-of-house team members to uphold service standards and restaurant culture
  • Monitor reservations, guest flow, and service pacing throughout each shift
  • Handle guest relations and resolve issues quickly and professionally
  • Collaborate closely with the Executive Chef and back-of-house leadership to ensure seamless coordination between FOH and BOH
  • Assist with staff scheduling, labor management, and shift coverage
  • Support recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new team members
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering, and cost control initiatives
  • Maintain operational standards including opening and closing procedures
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and labor regulations
  • Step in to lead service and operational decision-making in the absence of the General Manager

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of restaurant experience, with at least 2–3 years in a management role in an upscale, full-service restaurant
  • Previous experience as an Assistant General Manager, Floor Manager, or Service Manager preferred
  • Strong understanding of the New York City dining landscape and guest expectations
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams in a high-volume environment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience supporting labor management, cost control, and operational systems
  • Passion for hospitality, food, wine, and guest experience
  • Familiarity with reservation and POS systems such as Resy, Toast, Aloha, or similar platforms
  • Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays
