Assistant General Manager – Sanctuary Saugus

As the Assistant General Manager for our new Saugus location, you will help lead the launch of the store from the ground up. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys leadership, thrives in fast-paced environments, and is ready to help build a successful team and operation from day one.

You will work closely with the General Manager to oversee daily operations, support staff development, maintain compliance standards, and create an outstanding customer experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Assistant General Manager helps develop and maintain a motivated team focused on customer service, education, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the opening and day-to-day operations of the Saugus location
  • Helping create a positive and accountable team culture
  • Leading by example on the sales floor and behind the scenes
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and professional facility
  • Supporting all departments including Front Desk, POS, Inventory, and Management
  • Assisting with scheduling, morale, coaching, and employee development
  • Communicating company updates, promotions, and operational changes to staff
  • Supporting inventory flow, transport coordination, and sanitation standards
  • Upholding Sanctuary's diversity, inclusion, and customer service standards in all leadership decisions

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Open and close the store, including maintaining all required keys, codes, and operational procedures
  • Support the successful launch and continued growth of the Saugus store
  • Ensure all safety, security, and compliance regulations are followed at all times
  • Assist with cash handling, reconciliation, audits, and product accountability
  • Help manage staff scheduling, workstation assignments, and daily floor operations
  • Lead daily shift meetings to keep the team informed and prepared
  • Support onboarding, interviews, training, coaching, and disciplinary processes
  • Assist in delivering employee performance evaluations alongside the General Manager
  • Coach and support employees while helping develop future leaders
  • Assist with creating, updating, and enforcing SOPs and operational processes
  • Maintain clear communication and reporting with the General Manager
  • Ensure all required state reporting and documentation is completed accurately and on time
  • Support inventory management, cycle counts, vault organization, and inventory controls
  • Maintain accurate records for sales, returns, cash handling, and compliance activities
  • Step into any role when needed to support store operations
  • Help create a customer experience that is welcoming, educational, and memorable
  • Assist with events, pop-ups, product education, vendor days, and store promotions
  • Attend and help lead manager and team meetings
  • Work a minimum of 40 to 45 hours per week in a fast-paced retail environment

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding of Massachusetts Medical and Adult-Use cannabis regulations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to work with urgency in a high-volume retail environment
  • Experience with POS systems and operational reporting
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must pass all required background checks in accordance with CCC regulations

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business management or associate's degree in Retail or Restaurant Management preferred
  • Two years of management experience in retail, hospitality, food and beverage, or cannabis
  • Previous cannabis industry experience preferred
  • Experience working in regulated industries
  • Cash handling and reconciliation experience
  • Opening and closing operational experience
  • Spanish/English bilingual skills are a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift at least 20 lbs
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work a minimum 9-hour shift
  • Comfortable working in an active retail environment
