THE ROLE

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is a key member of the café leadership team and supports all aspects of café operations dedicated to delivering a warm, authentic, and inspiring environment for both guests and team members. In the absence of the General Manager, the AGM assumes responsibility for café operations while continuing to lead with hospitality, operational excellence, and accountability.

Successful Assistant General Managers are passionate about developing people, creating exceptional guest experiences, and executing operational excellence. They lead by example, inspire their teams, and help prepare the next generation of café leaders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the General Manager in leading all aspects of café operations
  • Model authentic, warm hospitality and coach team members to deliver exceptional guest experiences
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop team members who embody Tatte's values and culture
  • Coach, develop, and performance manage managers and hourly team members
  • Lead difficult conversations with professionalism, empathy, and accountability
  • Maintain Tatte's brand, visual, and operational standards
  • Lead efficient day-to-day café operations and shift execution
  • Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are consistently upheld
  • Support café-level communication and change management initiatives
  • Contribute to food, labor, and controllable costs remaining within company expectations
  • Support café administrative responsibilities
  • Other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergencies as needed
  • Ability to work 10+ hour shifts and stand, sit, squat, walk, and climb stairs for extended periods
  • Ability to grasp, reach overhead, push, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Required

Minimum 1 year of restaurant management experience in a high-volume, full-service, or polished fast-casual restaurant

Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Highly organized with strong attention to detail

High integrity and professionalism

High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or Associate degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with UKG/UltiPro, Toast POS, CrunchTime, and TeamworX
  • Current ServSafe, Allergen, and ChokeSaver certifications
