Position Summary:

The Assistant Golf Professional supports the daily golf operations of the club while delivering an exceptional member and guest experience. This position assists with golf shop operations, tournament and event management, instruction programs, merchandising, and member engagement activities. The Assistant Golf Professional serves as a visible ambassador of the club, promoting the game of golf while maintaining the highest standards of service, professionalism, and hospitality.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide outstanding customer service to members and guests.
• Assist in the daily operation of the golf shop, including opening and closing procedures.
• Manage tee sheets, reservations, and pace-of-play initiatives.
• Operate and maintain TrackMan technology, conduct player assessments, analyze performance data, and coordinate TrackMan League programs and events.
• Coordinate and administer tournaments, outings, leagues, and club events.
• Assist with the development and delivery of instructional programs, clinics, and junior golf activities.
• Conduct individual golf lessons as directed by the Director of Golf Operations.
• Support golf shop merchandising, inventory control, and retail sales.
• Maintain accurate point-of-sale transactions and member charge accounts.
• Enforce club policies, golf rules, and proper etiquette in a professional manner.
• Build positive relationships with members and cultivate an exceptional club atmosphere.
• Work collaboratively with golf course maintenance, food and beverage, and clubhouse staff to ensure seamless operations.
• Assist with marketing and communication efforts related to golf events and programs.
• Maintain knowledge of USGA Rules of Golf and club regulations.
• Support special projects and additional duties as assigned by the Director of Golf Operations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Golf Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
• PGA of America membership (or apprentice status with progress toward membership) strongly preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Golf Professional, Assistant Golf Professional, or Golf Shop Manager, preferably in a private or member-owned club environment.
• Demonstrated experience providing golf instruction and managing retail of golf shop operations.
• Strong Knowledge of the Rules of Golf, tournament administration, and golf equipment fitting.
• Proven ability to deliver exceptional member service in a relationship-driven environment.

Required Skills:

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a service-oriented mindset.
• Strong organizational, merchandising, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Proficiency with golf POS systems, Club Essential software, Golf Genius Tournament software, and Microsoft programs.
• Ability to balance instructional, operational, and member-facing responsibilities effectively.

Qualifications:

• Passion for the game of golf and member service excellence.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, mornings, evenings, and special events.

• Demonstrated leadership potential and commitment to professional development.

• PGA Associate status or willingness to pursue PGA membership preferred.

• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

Physical Requirements:

• Capability to lift and move golf bags, retail inventory, and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.

• Manual dexterity sufficient to demonstrate golf techniques and handle merchandise.

Work Environment:

Primarily based in a golf shop and outdoor course environment at a private, members-only club. Schedule includes weekends, holidays, and seasonal peak hours consistent with club operations.
