Prairie View High School , located in School District 27J, is currently seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to serve in the role of Assistant Head Custodian. The position will be responsible for the on-going supervision and coordination of Custodians as the Head Custodian deems appropriate, and activities related to cleaning, minor maintenance, and after-hours events.
SALARY: Classified Grade L, $21.34 per hour to start, depending on recent relevant experience. 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday (2:30 pm - 11:00 pm), on the 12 month work schedule. Position eligible for benefits.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and implement custodial services for all events at the high school, including parent/teacher conferences, sporting events, and all other after-hours building usage.
- Communicate with Principals, Assistant Principals, Athletic Director, teachers, coaches, security, and secretaries one-on-one or via two-way radios to ensure a clean and organized educational atmosphere throughout the school day and during after-hours events.
- Coordinate Custodians to address cleaning problems and/or extra cleaning that may be needed for daily sporting events, after-hours events, and other building usage.
- Coordinate and work with Maintenance Department, fire code inspectors, contractors, insurance inspectors, elevator inspectors, and water and electric meter readers.
- Use lift for replacing light bulbs inside and outside, changing scoreboard lights, and high dusting and cleaning.
- Inspect cleaning machines to ensure they are properly maintained and in working order.
- Repair and assemble desks, tables, and other furniture and install various school equipment.
- Coordinate and perform deep cleaning at site during summer vacation. Work with summer school staff and summer contractors as needed.
- Perform snow removal and apply ice melt during the winter months.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Colorado driver's license.
- First Aid and CPR certifications, and safety certification required within 6 months after hire.
- OSHA training, HazMat licensing, and BOCES training required within 1 year after hire.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds
- Must be able to pass a post offer, pre-employment physical.
- Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Over 3 years of experience in custodial field. Supervisory experience preferred.
- Must have knowledge of basic computer skills and operating Microsoft and Schooldude to create work orders.
- Communication, writing, interpersonal, supervisory, and basic math skills.
- Knowledge of custodial methods and procedures.
- Knowledge of school/facilities layout and location of circuit breakers, keys, and mechanical system shut-off switches/valves.
- Basic knowledge of maintenance and mechanical systems.
- Operating knowledge of and experience with basic cleaning equipment required.
- Operating knowledge of floor scrubber and all cleaning machines required within 2 months after hire .
- Operating knowledge of snow removal equipment and hand tools required within 6 months after hire.
- Must be able to pass a post offer, pre-employment physical.
- Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.
