    Job Description

    Nexstar Media Group has an opening for an on-site Assistant Manager in our Indianapolis Broadcast Operations Center. The Assistant Manager will report directly to the Hub Manager and have responsibility for the day-to-day operations of a large scale 24/7 broadcast facility servicing television stations across the Company. The ideal candidate will have prior Master Control experience with large team supervision and high station count hub operations. They will also have a high-level understanding of broadcast signal flow, automation systems, high volume media workflows, and strong computer skills.

    The ideal candidate will:

    • Provide direct supervision and training to Hub Operations staff in a multi-station broadcast hub environment.
    • Coordinate and approve time off requests and provide guidance for staff scheduling.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching or counseling as needed.
    • Participate in the interview and hiring process for new hires.
    • Ensure employees are following policies and procedures.
    • Guide and track live event requirements and execution.
    • Provide input for equipment and personnel future planning.
    • Ensure hub and station compliance with FCC requirements.
    • Have an understanding of broadcast equipment and signal flow.
    • Effectively communicate and coordinate with stations, hubs, and other departments to ensure the hub and station needs are met in a timely manner.
    • Provide timely and effective communication to the Master Control Hub Manager of all issues affecting the Hub.

    Requirements:

    The ideal candidate will possess the following:

    • Prior supervisory experience in a multi-station Master Control Hub environment.
    • Extensive knowledge of multi-station television master control operations.
    • Knowledge of FCC regulations related to master control operations.
    • The ability to effectively manage a large staff in a fast paced, 24/7 broadcast operation.
    • Experience with Florical automation systems including playout and ingest operations preferred.
    • Experience with multi-node Telestream Vantage Transcoding systems.
    • The ability to understand complicated workflows.
    • Must be able to lift 40lbs, be able to bend, squat and kneel in order to install and maintain equipment. Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time while monitoring operations.
    • Other duties as assigned.
