Description

The Human Resources Department is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Benefits and Payroll Specialist to administer payroll-related benefits, retirement programs, insurance benefits, and employee wage deductions.

Examples of Duties

  • Administer payroll and payroll deductions.
  • Process IMRF enrollments, disability claims, life insurance, and VAC accounts.
  • Manage manual insurance premium payments for employees on leave.
  • Administer AD&D and Supplemental Life Insurance (SLIP) programs.
  • Assist employees and beneficiaries with death claims.
  • Process garnishments and wage deductions in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Serve as a resource for employees regarding benefits and payroll matters.

Typical Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associates degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of payroll, benefits, or human resources experience.
  • Experience with retirement systems and employee insurance programs preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
