KUKU is a small, family-run Persian kitchen in Inglewood serving stews, wraps, rice, sides, drinks, and desserts rooted in Iranian home cooking.
You'll start as a kitchen assistant working side-by-side with our head cook, learning every station and every dish.The goal is for you to grow into someone who can run this kitchen.This isn't a dead-end prep job it s a path to leading a kitchen if you re the right person.
What You ll Do Right Away
- Package pickup and delivery orders accurately (quality check every bag)
- Prep cold items and sides portioning dips, stews, salads, desserts into containers
- Apply labels and stickers to cups, containers, and bags
- Prep drinks to order (cucumber-mint cooler, saffron lemonade, Persian tea)
- Keep prep, packing, and service areas clean and stocked at all times
- Dishes, trash, sweeping, sanitizing continuous, not when someone tells you
- Open and close: set up outdoor seating, restock condiments, end-of-day breakdown and inventory
What You ll Learn Over Time
- Cook saffron rice, grill beef and chicken skewers, fry falafel and fries
- Run the hot station during service
- Take orders, manage the POS, coordinate delivery platforms
- Handle catering orders and inventory
- Eventually: run a full shift independently
Who You Are
- Reliable above all else you show up on time, every time
- Fast learner who takes direction, asks questions, and doesn t need to be told twice
- Comfortable working on your feet in a small, fast-paced kitchen
- Works clean and organized without being reminded
- Stays calm and steady during busy stretches
- Interested in food and cooking you actually want to learn, not just clock hours
- Kitchen experience is a plus but not required. Attitude and reliability matter more.
Requirements
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must be able to lift ~40 lbs
- Food handler card (or willing to get one quickly)
Pay & Growth
- Starting: $19-$22/hr depending on experience
- Growth: Pay increases tied to skill milestones as you take on more responsibility (up to $100k/year)
- Schedule: Part-time, flexible varies by week (lunch and dinner service)
