Responsibilities:

Scheduling and Operational Excellence:
• Identifies customer service issues and resolves or initiates necessary follow-up.
• Implements service recovery efforts as appropriate.
• Addresses and resolves internal and external issues related to scheduling.
• Coordinates with Information Services Security department to obtain access to appropriate menus and systems for team members.
• Responsible for workflow analysis.
• Responsible for maintaining surgery block schedule according to Block Subcommittee Endorsements.
• Participates in the creation and review of Scheduling policies and procedures.
• Creates reports, assembles information, and interprets data related to department functions.
• Sets individual quality assurance goals for team members in conjunction with corporate surgery standards.
• Performs timekeeper functions for all departments as assigned.
• Initiates and facilitates department staff meetings and attends other meetings as assigned.
• Serves as a liaison to director and other nursing/leadership for collaboration between departments
• Oversees recruiting, hiring, and coaching plans for all direct reports within scope.
• Collaborates with Mgr. of Surgical Svcs. and Dir of Surgical Svcs. for human resource follow up and disciplinary courses of action when applicable.
Performance Improvement:
• Works with hospital performance improvement coach in collaboration with the Director, to develop standard operating procedures, documenting workflow, and process steps.
• Supports quality and process improvement solutions to business problems, using data analysis, and optimization tools to support strategic process improvement plans and growth strategies.
• In collaboration with the Director, tracks and reports relevant key metrics to key stakeholders and department meetings as
applicable.
• Works with team leaders to prepare charters and agendas.
• Utilizes results from quality and performance improvement activities to identify and prioritize areas of focus for improvement.
• Evaluates and provides input on the effectiveness of quality and performance improvement programs.
• Evaluates the perioperative environment and makes recommendations to ensure optimal patient comfort, safety, and compliance with various standards of care, regulatory / governing bodies i.e., OSHA, the Joint Commission, infection control, risk management etc.
• Participates in planning and implementation of new technologies, procedures, services to support day to day operations.

Qualifications:

Education/Training
• Bachelor degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or Clinical Science.
• Master preferred, but not required.


Licensure/Certification
• None

 

Experience
• Two (2) years’ experience in a health care environment. Previous perioperative experience preferred.
• Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet development, and presentation skills required.
