3 to 5 years of experience in book marketing, publicity, or sales, with a solid understanding of the book publishing landscape.
Love and knowledge of children's literature.
Strong grasp of key marketing concepts and tools including email marketing, social media marketing, video, and search.
Experience with social media required. Experience running a professional social media account(s) is a plus.
Ability to collaborate as part of a larger team while working independently.
Exceptional verbal and written communication and copywriting skills.
Must have strong time-management skills and a proven ability to prioritize tasks and projects effectively and accurately.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
Bachelor's degree.

Must be able to work from Norton's New York City headquarters. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule of 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

W. W. Norton & Company is seeking an Assistant Marketing Manager to join the Norton Children's Books team. Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, the AMM will have a unique opportunity to work on marketing campaigns across Norton Children's Books and its imprints. Promotion for these titles includes advertising, email outreach, digital marketing, social media marketing, retail marketing, and some school and library outreach. This role requires working closely and in full coordination with the NCB team and Senior Marketing Manager, who oversees marketing for the full children's book list, as well as Trade marketing and publicity colleagues. An ideal candidate will be an excellent writer and collaborator with a strong interest in children's literature. They should be able to juggle multiple priorities, turn ideas into action, and regularly assess the efficacy of their campaigns to identify opportunities for improvement.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Work closely with Senior Marketing Manager on all marketing and promotion efforts
Develop and execute marketing and advertising campaigns for 4 to 6 titles a season (12 to 18 titles a year)
Communicate marketing plans and updates to authors, agents, editors, sales, and other stakeholders
Oversee creation and delivery of marketing and advertising materials, including copywriting, design coordination, and final delivery
Coordinate and execute galley and finished copy outreach, mailings, and giveaways
Attend and contribute to regular marketing, sales, title-specific, and seasonal positioning meetings
Track expenses and manage budgets for assigned titles and projects
Assist with managing Norton Children's social media accounts, including brainstorming and planning posts, creating content, writing captions, engaging with users, and reposting on Instagram, Facebook, X, and others
Contribute to the content strategy and growth of NCB's newsletter, with support in copywriting and planning the calendar
Collaborate with the sales team on retail marketing
Work closely with NCB publicists on effective and innovative author events and create event signage, swag, and promotion graphics where applicable
Assist Senior Marketing Manager in preparing for bookseller and other conferences
Monitor department email inbox and engage with incoming requests
Assist with seasonal book mailing(s) to booksellers and national sales accounts
Other tasks and duties as reasonably required.
