The CardioThoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) is a 20-bed intensive care unit where we care for many complex medical problems including open-heart surgery, aneurysm repair, and heart and lung transplant. We have PT/OT 7 days a week, 2 Respiratory Therapists on the unit at all times, APP team coverage until 2300 and an attending MD for 24/7 coverage. We train our nurses to care for the most critically ill patients with multiple cardiac and renal devices including intra-aortic balloon pump, left ventricular assistive devices, ECMO, and continuous renal replacement therapy.
Position Summary/Essential Duties:
To maintain the nursing staff in all areas as well as to deliver safe efficient age specific nursing care to patient/families. Essential duties include:
1. Routinely provide patient care.
2. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team.
3. Maintains employee records.
4. Identifies needs for and provides Staff education/staff development.
5. Participates in Discharge planning, community resource referrals and education.
6. Committee involvement, participate with quality improvement initiatives.
7. Oversees daily operations of unit/area in a cost effective manner.
8. Involved in Community outreach activities as pertinent Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients/customers and co-workers.
9. Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment.
10. Displays commitment to the mission and values of the organization

Education:
· Associate in Science Degree in Nursing (ADN) required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master in Nursing (MN) from accredited program required within 2 years of hire date.
Required Credentials, License, and/or Certifications:
· Registered Nurse with current license to practice in the state of Ohio.
