Job Summary:

The Assistant Nurse Manager supports the delivery of high-quality clinical research services within the Critical Research Unit. This role partners closely with the Director of Clinical Operations, Medical Director, HR/Office Manager, and COO to ensure efficient unit operations, regulatory compliance, and optimal patient care. The Assistant Nurse Manager provides direct oversight of Clinical Research Nurses and Psychiatric Technicians, ensuring appropriate staffing, staff development, and adherence to study protocols.

Compensation:  $80,400 - $99,100 per year, depending on education, experience, and skillset. 

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provides direct supervision of Clinical Research Nurses and Psychiatric Technicians.
  • Supports hiring, onboarding, and staff retention initiatives.
  • Assists with performance evaluations, coaching, corrective actions, and employee recognition programs.
  • Fosters a collaborative, accountable, and patient-centered team environment.
  • Coordinates daily staffing assignments and scheduling for the Critical Research Unit.
  • Monitors staffing levels in alignment with patient census and acuity.
  • Ensures efficient workflow and appropriate resource utilization across the unit.
  • Collaborates with leadership to address operational challenges and improve processes.
  • Trains, mentors, and coaches clinical staff to ensure competency and professional growth.
  • Supports ongoing education initiatives and compliance training.
  • Promotes adherence to CenExel standards and best practices.
  • Ensures staff adherence to approved research protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and organizational policies.
  • Supports quality assurance efforts and readiness for audits and inspections.
  • Monitors patient care activities to ensure safety, protocol compliance, and high-quality outcomes.
  • Oversees patient monitoring activities within the unit.
  • Assesses and responds to patient acuity and care needs in collaboration with clinical staff.
  • Ensures appropriate escalation and communication of clinical concerns.
  • Supports and ensures strictest adherence to best practices, FDA Code of Federal Regulations, ICH (International Conference on Harmonization), GCP (Good Clinical Practices), CenExel standard operating procedures, site working Practices, protocol, and company guidelines and policies.

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in [State] Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), preferred
  • Minimum of [3–5] years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in research, behavioral health, or acute care.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical research environment.
  • Knowledge of clinical research processes, GCP, and regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in scheduling and staffing coordination.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

Working Conditions

  3. Essential physical requirements include sitting, typing, standing, and walking.
  4. Lightly active position, occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
