Work Schedule: 8a-5p
This Assistant Nurse Manager will oversee both our Labor & Delivery and NICU units. We are ideally seeking a candidate with a NICU background; L&D experience is a valuable bonus. The successful candidate should be comfortable occasionally working in L&D — stepping in as charge nurse or assisting with deliveries — as staffing needs arise.
Experience: Minimum of two years of clinical RN experience, preferred. Prior demonstrated nursing leadership, preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required. NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, required. Unit/Dept Specific Required Certifications.
Additional Skills (required): Successful completion of generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Ability to successfully complete Leader Education & Training.
What You'll Do:
Partners with the Nurse Manager to create a shared vision with team members and acts consistently with Novant Health's Mission, Vision, Values, and Service Standards
Provides clinical and administrative leadership at the unit level, fostering a culture of professional accountability and a healthy work environment
Coordinates provision of patient care through delegation, problem solving, time management, and organizational skills
Collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and improve processes surrounding patient care
Coaches, mentors, and develops team members, supporting recruitment, retention, and succession planning
Monitors unit operations daily, supports safe and effective staffing, and assists with departmental audits
Partners with the Nurse Manager on quality improvement initiatives, data trending, and patient/team satisfaction
Supports timekeeping compliance, budget management, and resource allocation for the department
Steps into a charge role or hands-on care as needed across L&D and NICU to meet patient care and staffing need
