Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate
Assistant Nurse Manager (RN) Labor & Delivery to join a nationally recognized healthcare organization in Torrance, California. This leadership role provides clinical and operational oversight for a high-performing Labor & Delivery department while supporting nursing excellence, patient safety, staff development, and quality outcomes.
The Assistant Nurse Manager serves as a key member of the nursing leadership team, partnering closely with the Unit Director to ensure exceptional patient care delivery, operational efficiency, and staff engagement across all shifts.

Key Responsibilities- Support the Director/Manager in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating Labor & Delivery operations.
- Provide leadership and clinical oversight for nursing staff during assigned shifts.
- Promote safe, high-quality, evidence-based patient care practices.
- Assist with staffing, scheduling, workflow coordination, and resource management.
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing team members.
- Foster a collaborative, patient-focused culture that supports nursing excellence.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and quality assurance programs.
- Support staff development, education, coaching, and competency assessments.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and departmental performance.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, hospital policies, and professional nursing practices.
- Assist in managing patient satisfaction, employee engagement, and departmental goals.
Required Qualifications Education- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
Licensure & Certifications- Active California Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association.
Experience- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a dedicated Labor & Delivery unit within an acute care hospital.
- Minimum 2 years of Charge Nurse experience in a Labor & Delivery department.
Preferred Qualifications- Recent clinical experience in an acute care hospital setting.
- Strong background in Labor & Delivery nursing.
- Charge Nurse or Relief Charge Nurse leadership experience.
- Previous nursing leadership or supervisory experience.
- Experience participating in Shared Governance programs.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care and nursing excellence.
