Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Assistant Nurse Manager (RN) Labor & Delivery to join a nationally recognized healthcare organization in Torrance, California. This leadership role provides clinical and operational oversight for a high-performing Labor & Delivery department while supporting nursing excellence, patient safety, staff development, and quality outcomes.
The Assistant Nurse Manager serves as a key member of the nursing leadership team, partnering closely with the Unit Director to ensure exceptional patient care delivery, operational efficiency, and staff engagement across all shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Director/Manager in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating Labor & Delivery operations.
  • Provide leadership and clinical oversight for nursing staff during assigned shifts.
  • Promote safe, high-quality, evidence-based patient care practices.
  • Assist with staffing, scheduling, workflow coordination, and resource management.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing team members.
  • Foster a collaborative, patient-focused culture that supports nursing excellence.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and quality assurance programs.
  • Support staff development, education, coaching, and competency assessments.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and departmental performance.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, hospital policies, and professional nursing practices.
  • Assist in managing patient satisfaction, employee engagement, and departmental goals.

Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
Licensure & Certifications
  • Active California Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association.
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a dedicated Labor & Delivery unit within an acute care hospital.
  • Minimum 2 years of Charge Nurse experience in a Labor & Delivery department.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Recent clinical experience in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Strong background in Labor & Delivery nursing.
  • Charge Nurse or Relief Charge Nurse leadership experience.
  • Previous nursing leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience participating in Shared Governance programs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care and nursing excellence.
