Job Summary: The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of assigned nursing area(s) in order to facilitate and deliver comprehensive quality nursing care and to manage the environment in which care is given.

The Assistant Nurse Manager prioritizes tasks for nursing staff, resolves staffing issues and problems, assists with goals, planning, customer service, standards, certification and accreditation, administrative and budget management, personnel resource management, communication, and quality activities.

Ensures adherence to hospital or department and university policies and to nursing policies, procedures, standards, and practices.

The Assistant Nurse Manager functions on the off-shift in the inpatient setting; in other areas the ANM shift is based on operational needs.

The Assistant Nurse Manager exemplifies the Upstate mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Upstate policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • NYS Licensed/Registered (or eligible) RN
  • Bachelors degree or Masters degree in Nursing
  • Two years of post licensure acute care RN experience (preferably in specialty area) required
  • Excellent written/oral communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required
  • CPR-BLS certification required by time of appointment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Nursing Leadership certification
  • Prior leadership experience strongly preferred

Work Days: Monday through Friday; Evening, Based on operational needs
