This night-shift leadership role is designed for a clinically excellent Registered Nurse who is ready to balance high-level administrative oversight with occasional direct patient care. You will serve as a vital link between frontline staff and nursing administration, fostering a culture of shared governance and evidence-based practice. From conducting behavioral-based interviews and managing staffing budgets to providing house supervision, you will play a critical role in maintaining the rigorous standards of a Magnet-designated organization while ensuring a safe, patient-centered environment during the essential night hours.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy: Develop departmental goals aligned with hospital strategic plans and foster an environment of innovation and clinical excellence.
Human Resource Management: Lead the recruitment lifecycle—interviewing, hiring, and onboarding—while providing ongoing coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective action when necessary.
Operational Oversight: Manage staff scheduling based on patient acuity and census; oversee the FTE component of staffing budgets and report variances.
Clinical Supervision: Provide house supervision for the Division of Nursing as required and periodically provide direct patient care to maintain clinical proficiency and support the team.
Quality & Performance: Drive Performance Improvement initiatives to hit key metrics for patient satisfaction and core clinical measures.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure total adherence to the NYS Nurse Practice Act, Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals, and ANA Code of Nursing Ethics.
Communication & Governance: Conduct monthly staff meetings, record minutes, and utilize diverse communication methodologies to keep the night shift team informed and engaged.

Licensure: Current New York State Registered Nurse License.
Education:Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant acute care experience.
Certifications: * Current BLS (American Heart Association) required.
ACLS (American Heart Association) required (or preferred if not mandatory for the specific supervised unit).
Skills: Demonstrated basic knowledge of management skills and excellence in clinical nursing practice.
Leadership History: Previous experience in a management or formal leadership role (Charge Nurse, Unit Leader, etc.) is preferred.
Advanced Certification:CNML (Certified Nurse Manager & Leader) or specialty certification is highly preferred (must be obtained within 3 years of hire).
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
