Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintains standard cost system, performs cost rolls, and inventory revaluations as necessary. Ensures product costing accurately reflects all BOM & routing components, including materials, labor, overhead, and other relevant expenses.
  • Improves costing transparency throughout the organization.
  • Analyzes production variances, identifies root cause, and supports the operations team with mitigating actions.
  • Conducts in-depth analysis of costs to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities and supports the operations team to develop and execute action plans.
  • Provides value added, fact based analytics through the interpretation of financial results.
  • Drives improved decision making through insightful analysis and strong relationships with key operations personnel.
  • Participates in key operational initiatives (operational excellence, supply chain optimization, strategic projects, acquisitions, etc.).
  • Develops, captures, and analyzes operational metrics to identify trends, support strategic changes and improves the company's financial performance.
  • Develops financial analysis tools to assist in improved operations insights.
  • Analyzes inventory levels and slow-moving stock.
  • Develops costing plans for annual budgets.
  • Supports the preparation of applications for Capital Expenditures and works to develop post-implementation reviews that will improve long term ROI and payback.
  • Manages and maintains fixed assets for both the internal accounting.
  • Understands internal controls and reviews local policies and procedures to assess best practices and risks.
  • Supports the preparation of financial statements and all related activity including monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reporting, including the preparation and posting of journal entries as required.
  • Coordinates with and supports external and internal auditors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Extensive understanding of cost accounting system and operational metrics in a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Effective interpersonal and written communication skills with all levels of the organization.
  • Presentation and analytical skills.
  • Thorough understanding of accounting functional areas.
  • Strong in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance. CPA, CMA or MBA preferred.
  • Five (5) years' experience in accounting and finance.
  • Three (3) years cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably plastics injection molding and/or extrusion.
  • Experience with ERP conversions preferred.
  • Experience with SAP preferred.
  • Experience with Power BI or other automation tools preferred.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
  • Typical office/factory environment with possibility of exposure to extreme temperatures in production areas.
  • Primary work in a climate controlled environment.
  • Eye/Hand coordination for than 50% of the time.
  • Visual strain for more than 50% of the time.
  • Listening, sitting, standing, stooping, walking, observing, grasping, pushing, pulling and keyboarding.
  • May be lifting up to 40 pounds.
