Assistant Operations Manager – Garden City Yard
About the Role
The Assistant Operations Manager will support daily operations at the Garden City yard, helping ensure safe, reliable, and efficient transportation service. This role works closely with the Terminal Manager, dispatchers, drivers, attendants, safety, and maintenance teams to keep the operation running smoothly while building a positive, accountable team culture.
Responsibility Profile
Support daily route coverage, staffing, dispatch, and service execution.
Provide clear communication and support to drivers, attendants, dispatchers, and yard employees.
Help ensure employees understand their daily assignments, expectations, and responsibilities.
Assist with safety coaching, compliance follow-up, incident response, and performance feedback.
Support employee onboarding, training, attendance management, and corrective coaching as needed.
Review operational reports and data for accuracy, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
Promote a positive workplace culture focused on safety, teamwork, accountability, and service.
Attend meetings, trainings, and company events as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Three (3) years of transportation, operations, logistics, or related experience preferred.
One (1) year of supervisory or lead experience preferred.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Knowledge of DOT, Article 19-A, school bus operations, and safety regulations preferred.
Strong communication, organization, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Comfortable using technology, reports, and operational systems.
Salary
$67,000 – $75,000 annually
