Position Summary
The Assistant Plant Manager will work closely with the Plant Manager to support and oversee daily plant operations, including production, maintenance, scheduling, quality, and safety initiatives. This role is ideal for a strong floor leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is ready to take ownership of operational execution and continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Plant Manager in overseeing daily plant operations, including production, maintenance, scheduling, and quality control.
- Maintain a strong presence on the shop floor to ensure production goals, quality expectations, and safety standards are consistently met.
- Help drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, scrap reduction, and process optimization.
- Assist in coordinating production schedules to support on-time delivery and smooth workflow.
- Support the training, coaching, and development of production employees to strengthen performance and accountability.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
- Troubleshoot production and equipment issues to minimize downtime and maintain output.
- Assist with inventory control, material flow, and operational planning.
- Step in to lead operations in the absence of the Plant Manager when needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 3–7 years of experience in manufacturing operations or production leadership.
- Experience in metal fabrication, perforating, or related industrial manufacturing preferred.
- Strong understanding of production processes, shop floor operations, and workplace safety standards.
- Proven leadership ability with strong communication and teamwork skills across all levels of the organization.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic manufacturing systems.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in perforating or metal manufacturing environments.
- Exposure to ISO standards or structured quality systems.
- Experience supporting or stepping into plant leadership roles.
