The Assistant Preschool Teacher supports the learning environment, caregiving routines, and preparing needed materials and supplies daily. They establish and maintain a positive relationship with all co-workers and parents. Position Type: Early Childhood Location: Apollo Center Salary: $16.50 - $17.11, per HVFSMCC contract Reports To: Early Childhood Supervisor/Director of Early Childhood Status: 26/27 School Year Start Date: ASAP Posting Date: 9/30/2026 Closing Date: Internal: 10/6/2026 External: Until filled MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS1. Should be familiar with High Scope2. Experience with preschool children ages 2 1/2 - 5 years3. Ability to initiate, interact and encourage children in activities4. Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with parents, students and staff5. Must be at least 18 years of age6. Required to have a current CPR & First Aid training certificate; Child Abuse & Neglect clearance from MiLEAP; Blood Borne Pathogen training7. Ability to exert physical effort in sedentary to heavy work involving routine stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching8. Ability to lift 50 pounds unassistedESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1. LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL AND REASONING SKILLS: Ability to speak and write effectively. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
