Hartford Public Schools is looking for a dedicated and talented Assistant Principal to join Dwight Bellizzi Dual Language Academy - the Greater Hartford regions first and only dual language interdistrict magnet school. This is not a typical AP role. This is an opportunity to be part of a leadership team shaping the future of a school, a program, and a community.

About the School

Dwight Bellizzi Dual Language Academy is a PK4-8th grade school where students learn in both English and Spanish, developing biliteracy, bilingual fluency, and the cultural awareness to thrive in a diverse, globalized world. The dual language program currently serves PK4-3rd grade, with a bold vision to expand into the middle school bands - and we need the right partner to help make that happen.

The Opportunity

As Assistant Principal, you will support the principal in:

• Championing the 50:50 dual-language model with fidelity and advancing the strategic expansion of the program into grades 6-8.
• Growing the school toward a full PK4-8th grade magnet school through strong knowledge of the magnet process, grant utilization, and community engagement.
• Leading school improvement efforts that produce real, measurable change - and contribute to lifting the school out of turnaround status.
• Using data to coach teachers, drive instruction, and connect every decision to student outcomes.
• Building equitable, language-inclusive systems - including MTSS and IEP frameworks that work for all learners.
• Fostering a school culture where students, staff, and families feel seen, valued, and inspired.

Who Were Looking For

You bring instructional leadership experience in urban, multicultural settings. You know the ARC curriculum. You understand how to work effectively across two developmental worlds - early childhood and middle school - without missing a beat. You are committed to equity, energized by complexity, and ready to contribute to something meaningful alongside a strong leadership team.

Multilingual skills are a strong asset. A passion for dual-language education is essential.

Compensation

This position is a 12-month role with a salary range of $138,539-$155,174, in accordance with the Hartford Principals and Supervisors Association 2026-2027 Schedule (Assistant Principal, Group 19).
