JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Principal of Phillis Wheatley Elementary School serves as an instructional leader and administrator for students in grades 3 through 5. The Assistant Principal supports the Principal in creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and academically engaging learning environment that promotes the social, emotional, and academic growth of elementary learners. Responsibilities include supporting daily school operations, fostering positive relationships with students, staff, and families, supervising and evaluating staff, promoting effective instructional practices, and assisting with student support services and school improvement initiatives.

Compensation for the Assistant Principal role will be based on the candidate's educational background, professional qualifications, and prior administrative experience, in alignment with district salary guidelines.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND EXPECTATIONS:
This is a 12-month position based on a full-year administrative contract. The Assistant Principal is expected to work a minimum of 7.5 hours per day, consistent with district expectations for administrative staff, with additional time as necessary to effectively fulfill the responsibilities of the role. Duties extend beyond the traditional school day and include evening and weekend commitments such as school events, extracurricular activities, meetings, and professional development.
The Assistant Principal is expected to maintain consistent and reliable attendance, demonstrate strong leadership and professionalism, and effectively manage a wide range of school operations. Responsibilities continue throughout the summer months and will include oversight of summer programs, planning for the upcoming school year, staff supervision, and other administrative duties as assigned. Flexibility is essential to meet the evolving needs of students, staff, and the district.
