Position Title: Assistant Principal

Department or Unit: School Assignment

Reports To: Principal

Supervises: Various professional and paraprofessional personnel

Job Summary: Assists in supervising the management of the school and its programs, food services, physical plant, and instructors.

Typical Duties:

  • Assists in determining yearly goes and methods to accomplish those goals.
  • Acts as principal in the principal's absence.
  • Assists in evaluation of school personnel.
  • Attends meetings and consults eight faculty, parents, principals and the curriculum council.
  • Counsels and discipline students as requested.
  • Displays personal conduct which sets an example for students to emulate.
  • Assists in the preparation of student records and progress reports.
  • Assists in the distribution and accounting of textbooks and instructional supplies.
  • Assists in preparation of student schedules and/or schedules of instruction and supervision for teachers.
  • Assists in the supervision of classroom instruction.
  • Assists in coordinating student extra-curricular activities and school public relations.
  • Assists in monitoring school plan for problems related to health and safety of students and staff.
  • Aids in interpreting school programs to parents and community.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Education
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in teaching.
  • Relevant state certification
  • Expertise in area of specialization
