Location assignment: Dual-Building Placement. This position splits time between and reports directly to both Rose Hill Elementary and Taylor Road Elementary.

Primary Job Function:
The Reynoldsburg City Schools' Elementary Assistant Principal serves as a foundational leader, focusing on early childhood development, literacy advancement, and the establishment of a safe, nurturing school climate. The Assistant Principal assists the Principal in directing school operations, implementing the Third Grade Reading Guarantee, and fostering strong home-school connections to ensure every student reaches grade-level proficiency in a supportive environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Educational Leadership or Elementary Education.
- Valid State of Ohio Principal License (Grades PK-6 or equivalent).
- Valid State of Ohio Teaching License.
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful classroom teaching experience (Elementary preferred).
- Credentialed in Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES 2.0).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong background in Science of Reading and Early Literacy interventions.
- Demonstrated experience leading or implementing a STEAM-centric curriculum or Project-Based Learning (PBL) frameworks.
- Experience facilitating the RTI/MTSS process for academic and behavioral needs.
- Knowledge of early childhood developmental milestones and trauma-informed care.

Instructional Leadership & Early Literacy
- OTES Management: Conduct the full OTES 2.0 cycle for assigned staff, providing specialized feedback on small-group instruction, student engagement, and differentiated learning.
- Literacy Oversight: Support the implementation of the Third Grade Reading Guarantee and ensure Reading Improvement and Monitoring Plans (RIMPs) are followed and communicated to parents.
- Data Coaching: Lead Grade-Level Team meetings to analyze TBT (Teacher Based Team) data, focusing on closing achievement gaps in foundational skills.
Foundational Culture & PBIS
- Developmental Discipline: Manage student behavior using age-appropriate, restorative, and trauma-informed practices; support teachers in creating structured, positive classroom environments.
- Elementary PBIS Lead: Oversee building-wide "Raider" pride programs, assemblies, and incentive systems that celebrate growth and character development.
- Supervision: Ensure safety during high-transition times unique to elementary, including arrival/dismissal, recess, and cafeteria rotations.
Intervention & Compliance
- MTSS & Special Education: Lead the Intervention Assistance Team (IAT) process; collaborate with psychologists and intervention specialists on IEP/504 implementation for early learners.
- Attendance: Monitor "Habitual Truancy" under HB410, focusing on early intervention and removing barriers for families.
- Safety & Security: Conduct safety drills and serve as the building's safety lead, ensuring protocols are age-appropriate and understood by young children.
Family & Community Partnership
- Home-School Bridge: Actively engage with the PTO and parent volunteers; provide resources to families to support learning at home.
- Communication: Utilize TalkingPoints and newsletters to maintain a "warm" and transparent connection with the community regarding school events and student progress.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Ohio's Learning Standards for K-5; Science of Reading; HB410; IDEA and Section 504 regulations.
Skilled in:
- Coaching teachers in early childhood pedagogy; de-escalating children in crisis; facilitating sensitive parent conferences.
Ability to:
- Create a joyful and disciplined school environment; manage complex student needs with patience; lead professional learning communities (PLCs).
