    ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL GILMER COUNTY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

    EMPLOYMENT TERM: 2026-27 School Year, 220-day contract

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master's Degree or Above in Education
    • Hold or is eligible for a valid West Virginia administrative certificate at the appropriate programmatic level
    • Completion of the WV Evaluation Leadership Institute
    • Minimum three years successful teaching experience; preference for experience at the appropriate programmatic level
    • Knowledgeable in school curriculum at the appropriate programmatic level
    • Knowledgeable in County, State, and Federal policies
    • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others and as a member of an educational team
    • Effective written and oral communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to integrate computers and technology in educational leadership
    • Demonstrated ability to implement innovative programs related to the appropriate programmatic level
    • Knowledge and skills to utilize WVEIS
    • Maintain or upgrade skills by working toward self-improvement, reacting favorably to constructive criticism, and attending in-service training and available workshops

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    In addition to established laws, policies, rules and regulations, the administrator shall demonstrate the following responsibilities:

    • Assume full administration of the school in the absence of the principal, subject to the same definitions and limitations of

    responsibility and authority as the principal

    • Assist in the supervision and evaluation of the faculty and staff, including extracurricular assignments
    • Assist in the preparation of Federal, State, and County reports
    • Assist in coordinating auxiliary services necessary for the operation of the school, including, but not limited to, budgeting,

    support services, pupil services, health and social services, federal programs, special education, and ADA compliance including 504 plans

    • Assist the staff with staff development, community relations, student relations, student discipline, student attendance, student

    supervision, the instructional program and the Local School Improvement Council

    • Provides purpose and direction for school/county;
    • Demonstrates instructional leadership to enhance school effectiveness by improving instruction and augmenting student performance;
    • Demonstrates cognitive skills to gather, analyze, and synthesize information to reach goals;
    • Communicates effectively and positively with staff, students, parents, community and others;
    • Manages group behaviors to achieve consensus;
    • Enhances quality of total school/county organization;
    • Provides leadership in the implementation of technology standards;
    • Works closely with behavior management and discipline;
    • Manages attendance;
    • Enters data into WVEIS;
    • Works with the completion of observations and evaluations of personnel;
    • Performs tasks and assumes other responsibilities as designated by the immediate supervisor and/or superintendent or designee;
    • Responsible for Data entry of all CTE compliance requirements.
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    Salary based on experience and education level per state salary schedule plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct

    compensation. State minimum Salary increment-schedule for Principals and Assistant Principals. County Position Supplement -Asst Principal.
