Position Overview This is a One-Year Only administrative appointment for the middle school program situated within our multi-magnet secondary school campus. The Middle School Assistant Principal serves as a vital member of the secondary campus administrative leadership team, providing the strategic oversight and operational management necessary to maintain a high-achieving and innovative learning environment.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

- Support the leadership of all aspects of middle school operations, including academics, student support services (Tier I, II & III), magnet programming, school culture, and daily operations.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and equitable learning environment where every student is supported academically, socially, and emotionally.
- Partner with instructional leaders and staff to strengthen curriculum, student achievement, scheduling, professional growth, and continuous school improvement.
- Build strong relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners to promote engagement, collaboration, and student success.
Minimum Requirements
- Must hold a valid Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) educator certificate with an endorsement in one or more of the following endorsement areas: 092
- A minimum of five (5) years of successful classroom teaching experience.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching or leading at the secondary school level.
Preferred Requirements:
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Haitian Creole highly desirable.
- Sixth year, doctorate, or another planned program in educational leadership, ELL, or special education
- Knowledge of Visual and Performing Arts and/or STEM themes and educational programming
