Description
The Assistant Principal at Dr. Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy plays a critical leadership role in supporting the academic and operational success of the school. This position is designed for a dynamic, visionary leader who is committed to fostering an inclusive and high-performing school environment that supports student achievement, teacher development, and community engagement. The Assistant Principal will work closely with the Principal and other school leaders to implement educational programs, manage school operations, oversee student discipline, and support the professional growth of staff. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education, have a strong background in school leadership, and be committed to fostering an equitable, positive learning environment for all students.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
Experience: Proven experience as an educator and school leader, with at least 3-5 years of experience in teaching and school administration, preferably at the secondary level.
Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teachers, students, and the broader school community.
Instructional Knowledge: Deep understanding of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices. Experience using data to drive instructional improvement and support teacher growth.
Student-Centered Focus: A commitment to student achievement and well-being, with experience in addressing student needs through academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support.
Disciplinary Knowledge: Experience managing student behavior and implementing restorative practices, ensuring a fair and supportive approach to discipline.
Collaboration & Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with other administrators, teachers, staff, and families to achieve common goals and drive school improvement.
Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address challenges creatively and effectively.
Education: Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field. Certification as an Assistant Principal or Principal (or eligibility for certification) is required.
Cultural Competency: Experience working in diverse school communities and a commitment to fostering an inclusive school environment that supports students from all backgrounds.

Ability to commute to Milwaukee, WI 53216 (Required)

Summary
Key Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership: Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the school's academic programs. Support teachers in creating a rigorous curriculum and instructional strategies that meet the needs of diverse learners, ensuring high academic achievement for all students.
Student Support & Discipline: Oversee student behavior and discipline, ensuring a safe and supportive school environment. Work with students, families, and staff to address behavioral concerns, implement restorative practices, and maintain high expectations for student conduct.
Staff Development: Provide guidance, coaching, and professional development for teachers and staff. Support ongoing teacher growth through observation, feedback, and development of instructional practices that align with the school's mission and educational goals.
Collaboration with School Leadership: Partner with the Principal and leadership team to implement the school's vision and goals, monitor progress, and make data-driven decisions to improve student outcomes.
School Culture & Climate: Promote a positive, inclusive school culture that supports student well-being, respect, and academic success. Lead initiatives that foster community engagement, student leadership, and a strong sense of belonging for all students.
Curriculum & Instructional Support: Provide support to teachers in the planning and delivery of high-quality, standards-aligned instruction. Assist in the analysis of student performance data to identify strengths and areas for improvement in instruction and learning outcomes.
Family & Community Engagement: Work with families and the broader community to build strong partnerships that support student success. Facilitate regular communication between the school and families to keep them informed of student progress, school events, and important updates.
Operational Leadership: Assist with the day-to-day operations of the school, including managing the school schedule, coordinating student assessments, overseeing school events, and ensuring that school policies and procedures are followed.
Crisis Management & Safety: Be proactive in addressing any crises or emergencies that arise, ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff. Implement and monitor safety protocols and emergency response plans.
Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement: Use student achievement data and other relevant metrics to guide decision-making and school improvement efforts. Track the effectiveness of programs and initiatives and make adjustments as needed to ensure continuous growth.
