POSITION SUMMARY

Provide assistance to the middle school principal in coordinating and supervising the educational program for all students at the middle school that results in a high level of learning for each student.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Implementation of Educational Programs

  • Assist with the design and implementation of educational improvement plans

  • Assist principal in supervision and evaluation of staff

  • Work with staff members to ensure a well rounded education through co-curricular activities

  • Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and recommending candidates for hire for certified and support staff positions

  • Maintain a safe, comfortable and productive learning environment

  • Nurture the social and emotional needs of students through the use of positive behavior interventions and supports

  • Seek student compliance with discipline and attendance statutes and policies

  • Formulate plans and policies for the management of student activities and behaviors

  • Lead large-group and grade-level student assemblies focused on promoting positive behavior, improving attendance, and supporting student goal setting and accountability

  • Work with appropriate parties to resolve student-student and/or student-teacher conflicts

  • With the guidance of principal, manage and supervise aides to ensure a safe and orderly school culture

  • Direct the certified, support, custodial and maintenance staff to ensure an orderly and clean environment

  • Make decisions on student suspensions and recommend students to the principal for expulsion

  • Participate in school safety planning, including emergency drills, crisis response protocols, and building-level safety team activities, along with the other members of the administrative team

  • Implement the agreed upon assessment strategies

  • Plan and implement the approved student assessment program.

  • Work with the staff to deliver the assessment program to the student identified to be tested

  • Analyze assessment data to identify trends, monitor student progress, and inform instructional improvement efforts

  • Provide and improve educational opportunities for at-risk students.

  • Coordinate services to at-risk students with student services staff

  • Work with staff to improve educational performance of at-risk students

  • Provide support in developing and monitoring behavioral plans for at risk students.

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with parents and community stakeholders

  • Addresses and resolves student, staff, parent/guardian, and community concerns relative to school matters

  • Resolves a conflict between/among students, staff, parents/guardians, etc., applicable to the position

  • Initiate and maintain regular parent communication to build understanding of school practices, the rationale for them, and promote parent/school collaboration

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

  • Master's Degree in Educational Administration

  • Wisconsin Principal License

  • 3 years teaching experience at the intermediate/middle school level

  • Demonstrates competence in the Administrator Standards

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and other administrators and public; to speak and write effectively; and to plan, organize, and supervise the work of others.

  • Crisis management, conflict de-escalation, and restorative practices; ability to respond effectively to emergencies, student conflicts, and disciplinary situations.

  • Data literacy: ability to analyze student performance, attendance, and behavioral data to drive instructional and programmatic decisions.
