The Counseling, Educational Leadership, Educational and School Psychology (CLES) Department in the College of Education at Wichita State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Counseling beginning August 2, 2027.
We seek a counselor educator who is committed to excellence in graduate teaching, clinical supervision, scholarship, student mentorship, and service. The successful candidate will contribute to the continued growth of the Counseling Program through high-quality instruction, supervision of counseling students, an active program of research, and engagement with professional and community partners.
The successful candidate will teach graduate courses in counseling in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats. Teaching responsibilities may include counseling core courses, clinical skills courses, practicum, internship, supervision, research methods, statistics, program evaluation, assessment, dissertation preparation, or other courses aligned with the candidate's expertise and departmental needs. Candidates with expertise in research methodology, quantitative methods, qualitative methods, mixed methods, statistics, program evaluation, counselor education research, or related areas that support graduate and doctoral education are especially encouraged to apply.
This position also includes supervising graduate students in clinical training experiences, advising master's and doctoral students, maintaining a productive scholarly agenda, contributing to accreditation and assessment activities, and providing service to the department, college, university, profession, and community.
The Counseling, Educational Leadership, Educational and School Psychology (CLES) Department prepares highly skilled, scholarly, and socially responsible professionals who serve individuals, families, schools, organizations, and communities through counseling, leadership, education, research, and service.
The department offers a range of graduate programs, including the Master of Education in Counseling, Master of Education in Educational Leadership, Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, Master of Education in Educational Psychology, Ph.D. in Education and Behavioral Studies with tracks in Educational Psychology and Clinical Mental Health Counselor Education and Supervision, and Educational Specialist in School Psychology.
The Counseling Program includes CACREP-accredited master's programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling, as well as a doctoral track in Clinical Mental Health Counselor Education and Supervision. The program is also connected to the WISE Counseling Clinic, which provides supervised clinical training for graduate counseling students while offering accessible counseling services to the community.
Faculty in the CLES Department work in a collaborative academic environment that values strong teaching, applied learning, clinical training, research productivity, student mentorship, interdisciplinary collaboration, and service to the profession and community.
Job Summary
Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels using various instructional deliveries (e.g., traditional (face-to-face), hybrid, and fully online). To foster applied learning into the course design and engage with industry and local business community applied projects. To advance knowledge through scholarly activities (e.g., active involvement in committees, student mentorship, recruitment and retention initiative, outreach activities, etc.)
