Position purpose

Vaughn College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Engineering and Engineering Technology. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting and advancing Vaughn’s Bachelor of Science in Engineering program, with a focus on the Bachelor of Science in Mechatronic Engineering.

The College seeks a highly qualified individual with expertise in mechatronics and related disciplines, capable of teaching both lecture-based and laboratory courses. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, student engagement, and the continued enhancement of the Mechatronic Engineering curriculum.

Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

 

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Teach undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses within the Mechatronic Engineering program, including but not limited to Electrical Circuits, Digital Electronics, Microprocessors, Control Systems, Principles of Communication Systems, Mechatronics I & II, and Robotics.

  • Demonstrate proficiency with industrial automation technologies, including Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming, as well as engineering software and laboratory platforms such as Multisim, LabVIEW, MATLAB, and other mechatronics- and robotics-related equipment.

  • Contribute to the development of external grant proposals that support engineering programs through laboratory enhancements, student engagement initiatives, and professional and scholarly activities.

  • Advise and mentor students, while actively participating in departmental, college, and institutional committees.

  • Engage in scholarly and professional activities, including collaborating with students on capstone projects, technical presentations, and publications in peer-reviewed conferences and other scholarly venues.

  • Develop, revise, and enhance curriculum and course content to support departmental student learning outcomes and maintain alignment with industry standards and emerging technologies.

  • Assess student learning and program effectiveness using the Vaughn College faculty course assessment model and utilize assessment results to support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Support the mission of the College through active participation in academic, professional, and community engagement activities.

  1. Education and/or Experience Requirements

  • A PhD in appropriate engineering field is preferred. Experience in industrial automation, PLC, mechatronics, and robotics is highly desirable. Those with only a master's degree must demonstrate significant professional experience in this field. Industrial and teaching experiences are also preferred

  • Tenure Track requires a PhD in an engineering discipline related to Mechatronic Engineering.

  • Highly Experienced candidates may be considered for the Associate Professor rank

Compensation and benefits:

Salary Range $73,542 to $89,551 for well-qualified individuals. Salary is?determined?based upon experience and education as well as internal equity.
