Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Department of Pediatrics at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) in conjunction with the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Manning Family Children's in New Orleans seeks a physician with expertise in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation/Bone Marrow Transplantation (HSCT/BMT). The physician will help continue the growth of the robust cancer and blood disorders program. A commitment to academic medicine and scholarship is expected.

The prospective candidate will join our team of 10 pediatric hematologist-oncologists, 5 APPs, 2 oncology pharmacists, 3 social workers and dedicated child life specialists. Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology. We are actively involved in the Children's Oncology Group (COG), Alliance Cancer Trials, and other cooperative networks. Manning Family Children's is the only hospital in the Gulf South approved for gene therapy for sickle cell disease. Candidates with interest in health equity, clinical innovation, and program building are highly encouraged to apply. Candidates must be licensed to practice medicine in the State of Louisiana at the time of initial appointment. Academic appointment will be at the rank of Assistant, Associate Professor, or Professor (non-tenure, clinical track) as determined by the candidate's experience and scholarly achievements.

This role's key responsibilities include providing expert clinical care in HSCT/BMT; providing occasional inpatient coverage for the pediatric hematology oncology service (24 hematology-oncology beds); joining our outpatient stem cell transplantation clinics; participating in pediatric tumor boards and institutional clinical trial efforts; educating and mentoring medical students, residents, and pediatric hematology oncology fellows as part of LSUHSC's academic mission; engaging in scholarly activity, including clinical or translational research in pediatric malignancies and/or blood diseases including sickle cell disease; supporting quality improvement initiatives and helping to expand access to stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies across the Gulf South region.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: MD or equivalent

Other Education if applicable: Fellowship in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology

Required Field of Study: Clinical focus in stem cell transplant, cell, or gene therapy.

Certifications or Licenses Required: Board certified/board eligible (or equivalent) in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology; Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Louisiana and credentialed with all required entities before start date.

Preferred Qualifications

Other Education if applicable: Completion of a one-year Pediatric Stem Cell Transplantation Fellowship.
