Misericordia University Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Biochemistry to begin August 2027. We seek an enthusiastic teacher-scholar who is committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching, student mentorship, and an active undergraduate research program. The successful candidate will teach junior-level courses in biochemistry in addition to general chemistry courses that support students in health-related fields, including nursing, physical therapy, and exercise science programs, and other courses as needed. Teaching responsibilities will include lecture and laboratory instruction.
Additional responsibilities include:
Advising and mentoring undergraduate students in the chemistry and biochemistry programs
Maintaining an active scholarly agenda that engages undergraduate students in our chemistry and biochemistry programs
Participating in departmental curriculum development and assessment
Supporting the maintenance of departmental instruments and equipment
Providing service to the department, university, and professional community
Required qualifications:
Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a closely related discipline by the time of appointment
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching
Ability to teach upper-level biochemistry courses and general chemistry lecture and laboratory courses
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to mentoring diverse learners in a student-centered environment
