The Department of Chemistry at Carthage College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of biochemistry starting August 2027. We seek a teacher-scholar to contribute to the development of our new Biochemistry major by serving as Program Coordinator, guiding curriculum development, and advising biochemistry students. The successful applicant will be expected to teach biochemistry and general chemistry courses while demonstrating a strong commitment to establishing a productive research program with undergraduates and actively seeking external funding.
The Chemistry Department is ACS certified, and our equipment includes a 400-MHz NMR, AFM, HPLC, GC-MS, GC, FTIR, DLS, MP-AES, Fluorimeter, and UV/VIS. The Carthage faculty is firmly committed to the liberal arts tradition and interdisciplinary work. Carthage also offers small class sizes, start-up funds for research, conference travel, and the opportunity to teach, mentor, and advise diverse undergraduates at a liberal arts college.
