Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

The University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy (USC COP) invites applications for one full-time 12-month tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Outcomes Sciences (CPOS) with a focus on community pharmacy practice. We seek an innovative pharmacist who will build and sustain innovative services that advance patient care and expand access to high-quality pharmacy services, with an appreciation for the evolving roles of regulatory affairs and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, in healthcare delivery. This position is embedded within a well-established independent community pharmacy group with multiple locations across South Carolina, offering a diverse range of services including traditional dispensing, sterile and non-sterile compounding, durable medical equipment, and enhanced patient care services.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and maintaining community pharmacy-based services. This will serve as a platform for patient care, trainee learning, and practice innovation. Responsibilities will include contributing to the teaching mission of the College, engaging in service activities, and participating in scholarly work in collaboration with departmental faculty to support existing research and grant-funded initiatives, while also contributing to the development of new collaborative research programs and externally funded opportunities. Scholarly activities may include practice-based research, quality improvement initiatives, evaluation of patient care services, or other areas such as implementation science, with opportunities to explore the application of regulatory science, data-driven approaches, and artificial intelligence to advance pharmacy practice.

Applicants are expected to contribute to USC's vision of transforming pharmacy practice through patient-centered services that improve outcomes and increase access to care, while recognizing the importance of regulatory frameworks and innovative technologies in shaping the future of healthcare. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, committed to excellence in teaching and practice, and interested in developing forward-thinking approaches to community pharmacy care. Candidates are expected to contribute to and uphold the USC College of Pharmacy's culture of collaboration, innovation, and patient-centered impact (https://sc.edu/study/colleges_schools/pharmacy/about/vision_mission/).

Located in the heart of South Carolina, USC offers an exceptional quality of life, with affordable housing, thriving arts and culture, and proximity to beautiful outdoor spaces.
