Assistant Professor - Department of Social Sciences & Historic

The TWU Department of Social Sciences and Historical Studies invites applications for Assistant Professor, tenure track, in Sociology. Candidates with specialization in criminology and/or criminal justice are particularly sought. The ability to teach graduate courses in quantitative methods will be a plus.

The department offers undergraduate degrees in Criminal Justice, History, Political Science, and Sociology, as well as M.A. programs in History, Political Science, and Sociology, and a Ph.D. in Sociology. Department faculty are research-active, publishing numerous books, articles, and receive major grants. Faculty regularly present at regional, national, and international conferences.

Qualified applicants will have the following:

A Ph.D. in Sociology at time of appointment.

A record of scholarship appropriate for the applicant''s rank.

A commitment to excellence in graduate education and support for student research.

Demonstrated excellence in university teaching.

Position responsibilities include:

Teaching graduate and undergraduate courses.

Advising and mentoring graduate students.

Engagement in research and scholarship in line with the applicant's research agenda.
