Job Description The Department of Nursing invites applications for a nine-month tenure-track Assistant Professor starting Fall 2026.

Teaching responsibilities may include classroom and clinical instruction in the Pre-Licensure BSN Program in pediatric nursing. Other responsibilities include:

  • Academic advising of students.
  • Participation in ongoing curriculum development.
  • Evaluation committee assignments.
  • Active engagement in scholarly activities.

Teaching, research, and service responsibility are negotiable and dependent on the candidates area of expertise and the needs of the program.

The department also seeks candidates who will contribute to the Universitys general education curriculum with its emphasis on a common First Year Seminar and core curriculum courses that enhance students critical thinking and the Colleges support of interdisciplinary program of study.

Candidates interviewing on campus must have unofficial transcripts (UG & G) forwarded to the Director of the School of Nursing by their degree-granting institutions prior to the interview on campus.

Salary Range Salary is commensurate upon education, experience, and internal equity.

Qualifications Must be able to perform all essential job duties as outlined in the job description.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Applicants must have a masters degree in nursing.
  • Licensure: Must hold an unencumbered license or be eligible for licensure as an RN in West Virginia.

Experience

  • A minimum of three (3) years of recent experience in pediatric nursing is required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Doctoral degree in nursing is preferred.
