Essential Functions (Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities):
• Design and teach graduate-level courses in population health science, implementation science, evaluation, and applied research methods (typical load: 4 courses/year) such as Implementation Science in Public Health Practice, Program Evaluation and Impact Assessment, or Applied Research Methods in Public Health. • Mentor graduate students and junior faculty in research methods, evaluation strategies, and implementation frameworks, including serving on thesis and dissertation committees. • Build cross-disciplinary collaborations with clinicians, public health leaders and agencies, community partners, and policymakers to translate implementation and evaluation science into real-world applications, leveraging opportunities for cross-campus collaboration across Meharrys health systems, community partners, and national and global health networks. • Lead an externally funded (or fundable) research program while also contributing to existing School of Global Health initiatives. • Design and apply innovative evaluation frameworks and implementation strategies for population and community health projects. • Integrate robust monitoring, assessment, and evaluation (MAE) processes into research and practice, including establishing baselines, measuring fidelity, and evaluating outcomes. • Publish in top-tier peer-reviewed journals, present at national/international conferences, and mentor graduate students in preparing and showcasing their research to elevate the visibility of the School of Global Health.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
• Demonstrated teaching, scholarship, and potential for extramural funding in health services or implementation science. • Expertise in monitoring, assessment, and evaluation methods applicable to population health or program interventions. • Commitment to advancing health equity via research, teaching, and mentorship. • Ability to demonstrate successful interdisciplinary research collaboration.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Preferred:
• Evidence of funded research or strong funding trajectory. • Proficiency in statistical or qualitative analysis software (e.g., SAS, Stata, R, NVivo). • Experience leading or evaluating population health programs or systems-level interventions. • Track record of mentoring diverse students and fostering inclusive research environments. • Demonstrated success in collaborative, interdisciplinary projects.
Education and Experience Required:
• PhD, DrPH, MD, JD, ScD or equivalent doctoral degree in Health Services Research, Implementation Science, Population Health Science, Epidemiology, or closely related field. • Three to five years of relevant experience working in an educational and/or research setting.
