Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Communication, Media Studies, or a closely related field completed by May 2027.- A research program focused on digital media technologies from a media and communication studies perspective that includes a book manuscript project.
  • Evidence of high-quality scholarly publication
  • Evidence of teaching experience
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience bridging scholarly research with the practice or production of digital media.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach courses that integrate media and communication studies with a practice-based approach.
  • a book project under review

Evidence of engagement with interdisciplinary or cross-departmental collaboration.- A record of, or clear potential for, securing external research funding.

We welcome a range of methodological approaches, including historical, ethnographic, archival, textual, industrial, practice-based, or transnational ones. The ideal candidate will contribute to the department's undergraduate curriculum and help shape a growing area of strength at the intersection of critical media scholarship, communication, digital technologies, and media practice/production.

The successful candidate will teach four undergraduate courses annually in the department's core curriculum and develop new elective offerings in their area of specialization. Teaching responsibilities may include courses that combine critical analysis with applied components as well as mentor students engaged in related research or creative projects.
