Job Title

Assistant Professor, HPER (Health, Physical Education, and Recreation)

Essential Job Functions

  • Conducts a requisite number of classes/Teaches assigned subjects
  • Provides guidance and supervision to students
  • Creates and maintains an environment conducive to excellence in teaching, learning, and research
  • Preparation and formulation of curricula focused on his/her subject(s)
  • Participates in departmental meetings and holds scheduled office hours
  • Maintains equipment in the laboratory, makes arrangements for laboratory practical sessions, and provides materials to students
  • Provides academic support to other faculty members
  • Serves on departmental and University committees, as assigned
  • Coordinates (or assists with the coordination of) the Sports Management Program
  • Other related duties, as assigned

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Philosophy in Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sports Management, or related discipline
  • Published works preferred
  • Three (3) years experience in higher education

  • Knowledgeable of National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) Standards

  • Demonstrated integrity, loyalty and time management skills

  • Strong analytical, observational, and problem-skills skills

  • Excellent research, writing and interpersonal skills

  • Passion for teaching and engaging with students

  • Skilled in mentoring students
