Assistant Professor Management Tenure Track or Non-tenure track

Position Purpose

Vaughn College seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure track faculty position in the Management Department. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in the management department in the teaching and assessment of the undergraduate and graduate curriculum. The faculty member would also assist to develop new courses, programs, research and outreach projects and student engagement activities as needed. The faculty member is expected to support college-wide duties. The selected individual shall have the primary responsibility of teaching a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester (fall and spring) in a variety of management, business and aviation subjects, based upon the faculty member’s experience and interests. Subjects include research methods, aviation management, economics and many more. This student centric position shall be responsible for delivering excellent service support to meet the needs of the college and industry community.

Job Responsibilities

Provides instructions to students for the M.S., MBA, B.S. and A.A.S degrees and certificates in management, business, safety, and aviation.

Teaches a course load minimum of 12 credit hours per (fall and spring) semester.

Assists in assessment, college support activities and student engagement functions.

A thorough, ongoing understanding of technology, learning management systems, and computer applications is essential.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishments of the responsibilities and functions of the management department.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The minimum qualification is a doctoral degree, together with professional experience in the field, although a master’s degree with outstanding professional experience may be considered.

Areas of expertise in management and business are needed. An aviation background is also desirable.

Ability to handle information of a sensitive and confidential nature in the utmost professional manner.

Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, initiative, resourcefulness, and personal accountability.

Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of information, protect the assets of the institution, act ethically and with integrity, and adhere to Vaughn’s Code of Conduct and policies and procedures.

Effective analytical and decision-making skills. Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, and time management skills.

Grade student verbal, written and exam performance, and complete the grade reports on time. Lead group work in classes as needed.

Background and interest in scholarly research are preferred. Participate in committees, assessment programs, student engagement activities, research and outreach programs as needed to support the students’ and the college’s functions.

Ability to create, assess, and continuously improve course contents and delivery methods.

Provide a positive image to motivate future qualified employees. Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse constituents.

Attention to detail and adaptability to a changing environment is extremely important as well as dependability.

Manage, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks/projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.

Education and Experience Requirements

Doctoral degree with five years’ related experience and if applicable, appropriate business and/or aviation certifications.

A master’s degree with outstanding professional experience may be considered.

Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours, ability to maintain a flexible work schedule that may include working nights and weekends.

A thorough understanding of technology, learning management systems, and computer applications is essential.

Work environment and physical functions

This position is mostly located in a classroom/office environment although some remote work is also possible. Generally an employee needs to be able to sit, stand, and navigate within the office area. The office equipment either individually used or shared with a department is the responsibility of all employees. Moderate physical activity. Requires handling objects of average weight up to (20) twenty pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Mostly classroom work, with electronic podium and whiteboards. Shared office space is available. Classes will be performed using learning management system (LMS), and some courses can be designed to run completely on-line using the LMS, videos, Zoom, etc.
