    The position is responsible for teaching in the MSW Program, with a focus on social work practice, generalist practice, policy, and seminar courses. The faculty member will support student success through academic advisement, field internship liaison responsibilities, and facilitation of field seminars. The position also includes engagement in scholarly research, professional development, community service, and curriculum development. The faculty member will contribute to departmental and college activities and collaborate with colleagues to advance the mission of the MSW Program. Overall, the position supports the preparation of skilled, ethical, and socially responsive social work professionals through teaching, mentorship, scholarship, and service.

    Essential Duties

    • Teach in the MSW Program, particularly in the following areas: Practice, Generalist practice, Policy, Seminar courses.
    • Act as liaison to students in field internships, and facilitate field seminars.
    • Provide academic advisement to students .
    • Engage in scholarly research and professional activities.
    • Participate in curriculum development for the MSW program.
    • Engage in professional community service.
    • Participate in other departmental and college activities as required.

    Occasional Duties

    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Dean, School of Social Work or Chair of the MSW program.

    Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to participate as a member of a team with faculty and staff.
    • Ability to teach with cultural humility and curiosity in a collegial environment dedicated to student learning and engagement
    • Experience in the development and delivery of hybrid, and online instruction at the undergraduate or graduate levels.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in practice with diverse populations and commitment to anti-racism and social justice.
    • Expertise in at least one substantive area (e.g. child welfare, homelessness, substance use).
    • Ability to use data and research that support best practices in historical marginalized communities.

    Required Qualifications

    • MSW degree from CSWE-accredited institution.
    • At least two years post-MSW social work clinical practice experience in working with historically marginalized communities.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Teaching experience in social work at the graduate level.
    • Experience in working with LatinX and Black communities and issues affecting the LatinX and/or Black population.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

    Environmental Conditions

    Teaching/instruction is performed in a traditional classroom setting and /or computer lab with chalkboards and adequate ventilation and lighting.

    Position Details

    FLSA Exempt Full Time / Part Time Full-time Proposed Compensation

    Additional compensation may be added for teaching at the collegiate level or other relevant experience.
