The Assistant Professor is a member of the ranked faculty with an intermediate academic rank who has demonstrated achievement in the areas of teaching, research, and professional service appropriate to the discipline. The Assistant Professor's teaching responsibilities are assigned by the academic department head and may include serving as an academic advisor. The Assistant Professor engages in scholarly activities beyond those associated with teaching and is expected to demonstrate professional productivity in research, based upon the availability of resources and consistent with the mission of the University.

Description of Primary Duties

We seek a candidate who can demonstrate a commitment to inclusive teaching practices and expertise in clinical nursing. Tenure track faculty are required to teach, pursue a program of research, and provide service consistent with the School of Nursing, the McQueary College of Health and Human Services, and the University goals. Teaching responsibilities will be graduate level with the potential for undergraduate assignments, based on school need, and education, experience, and area of expertise. Supervision and mentoring graduate student research projects, is required.

The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about the use of student focused pedagogy in the online environment to engage students in the learning process and will join a school that is dedicated to providing students with access to high impact practices aimed at increasing student retention, persistence, and success.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Assistant Professor are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook.

Additional Qualifications

Terminal degree in Nursing (PhD, DNP or EdD) from an accredited program. Individuals with degree in process that is nearly complete will be considered;

Masters degree in nursing from a CCNE or NLNAC/ACEN accredited program;

Current nursing license, without restriction, to practice nursing, or eligibility for RN licensure in Missouri;

Strong clinical background and skills;

Excellent written and oral communication skills;

Prior teaching experience;

Experience with online education, or interest in online education, with strong technology skills;

Ability to identify and implement a successful program of scholarship.
